FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Cryptopower — security, supported assets, staking, privacy and getting started. Can't find your answer?

Contact the team →
01Is Cryptopower really free and open-source?

Yes. Cryptopower is fully open-source software released under the ISC license. The code is publicly auditable on GitHub, and there are no subscriptions, hidden fees, or in-app purchases. You only pay standard on-chain network fees when broadcasting transactions.

02Does Cryptopower ever hold my funds or private keys?

Never. Cryptopower is a strictly non-custodial, self-sovereign wallet. Your seed phrase and private keys are generated on your device, encrypted with your passphrase, and never transmitted to any server. If you lose your seed, no one — including the developers — can recover your funds.

03Which cryptocurrencies and networks are supported?

Cryptopower supports Decred (DCR), Bitcoin (BTC) and Litecoin (LTC) natively as SPV light clients. Through the integrated DCRDEX you can also trade these assets peer-to-peer using atomic swaps, with no third-party custodian.

04What is DCRDEX and how does it work inside the wallet?

DCRDEX is a decentralized exchange that uses atomic swaps to trade assets directly between wallets — no order-book operator ever touches your coins. Cryptopower ships with DCRDEX built in, so you can place orders and settle trades without leaving the app or completing KYC.

05Can I stake DCR and vote on proposals from Cryptopower?

Yes. You can purchase tickets, delegate to a VSP, participate in Proof-of-Stake consensus, and vote on Politeia treasury proposals — all from both desktop and mobile. Staking rewards are credited automatically to the same wallet.

06How does StakeShuffle privacy mixing work?

StakeShuffle is a non-custodial CoinShuffle++ implementation built into Cryptopower. It anonymises DCR balances by mixing them with other participants in a trustless protocol. Coins never leave your control during the mix, and the process runs in the background whenever the wallet is open.

07Which platforms and operating systems are supported?

Cryptopower runs on Windows 10+, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), most modern Linux distributions (AppImage and .deb), plus native iOS and Android apps. The same wallet seed can be restored across every platform for a consistent experience.

08How do I back up and restore my wallet safely?

During setup you'll be shown a 33-word seed phrase — write it down offline and store it somewhere safe. To restore, install Cryptopower on any supported device, choose "Restore existing wallet", and enter the seed. Never share it, photograph it, or store it in cloud services.
